Homegrown Healthy Program

The University of Illinois Extension office will be offering a complimentary Homegrown Healthy program for our Carroll County Housing Authority residents.  Please join University of Illinois Educator, Bruce Black, for this   ten (10) week program, where participants learn how to grow an actual community garden at Mest Manor, get an introduction to hydroponics, and try new foods made with garden produce.

DATE:  Wednesdays | Starting June 5 – August 21st

TIME:   2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

LOCATION:  Mest Manor (525 Third Street)

Healthy communities grow with community support.  This program will focus on vegetable gardening while taking you on a journey from planning the garden, preparing the soil, planting crops, and beginning to harvest.  The classes will provide the nutritional value of your harvest, and garden-to-table recipes to prepare healthy dishes in your own home. The program is free and open to the public.  NOTE:  You are welcome to bring lawn chairs or a blanket to sit on.
